Today marks the first step of a new rhythm—not one of striving, but of surrender. You’re not here to perform or perfect. You’re here to begin, with intention and faith, just as you are.
Complete each activity all together, or spread through out the day. Do what feels right for you. You are learning to save space for greater things to come!
Devotional Reading
Start your day by reading the devotional, “The Invitation to Begin.” As you read, let the story of Elijah in 1 Kings 19:11–12 sink into your heart. Notice how God didn’t meet Elijah in the loud, dramatic moments, but in the gentle whisper. That same stillness is available to you now.
Let it remind you that your beginning doesn’t need to be loud to be powerful.
Scripture
“After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper.” – 1 Kings 19:12
Repeat this verse, or write this verse somewhere visible—in your journal, on a sticky note, or in your phone. Revisit it throughout the day as a reminder that you are being invited, not pushed.
Focus: Say yes to starting—just as I am.
You are not behind. You are not too late. You are simply beginning—and that is holy.
To explore how to live out this focus in your day, scroll to the end of the blog and read the section titled How to Incorporate Focus Into Practice. It offers simple, meaningful ways to put today’s intention into action.
Journal Prompt
Take 5–10 minutes of quiet reflection and respond to this question:
What is stirring in your heart?
Be honest. Don’t worry about writing the “right” thing. This is your space to uncover what’s been hidden or waiting for your attention—whether it’s a desire, an ache, a longing, or a hope. You don’t need to judge it. Just notice it.
Wellness Check
Take five minutes today to simply be still.
Find a quiet space—sit comfortably, close your eyes, and silence distractions. You don’t need to meditate perfectly or clear your mind completely. Just sit.
Notice your breath and thoughts as they come and go. Let this be a sacred pause in a noisy world.
This moment of stillness isn’t about productivity—it’s about presence. It’s a chance to create space for God to speak and for your soul to settle.
Nutritional Intention
Before each meal today, pause. Take a deep breath. Offer a short prayer of gratitude.
As you eat, slow down and practice awareness. How does the food taste? How does it feel in your body? Let eating be a moment of connection, not control.
Movement Practice
Begin with 5–10 minutes of gentle breath-work and body scan:
Sit or lie down comfortably. Close your eyes.
Breathe in through your nose for 4 seconds, hold for 2, exhale for 6 seconds.
Mentally scan from head to toe, noticing areas of tension, numbness, or openness without needing to change anything.
If possible, follow this with a short, unhurried walk—no phone, no music—just listen to your body and surroundings.
This practice isn’t about burning calories. It’s about becoming aware of your body and your presence in this moment.
Reflections
In what ways can I reflect God’s design through my movement and choices today?
Take a moment to consider how your daily actions—no matter how small—can honor the way you were uniquely created.
Is it choosing rest over hustle? Nourishing your body with care? Moving with awareness instead of striving?
Activity: In your Purpose Planner, list the things you need to do today—both big and small. Let your reflections guide how you approach each task. Think less about perfection and more about presence, purpose, and honoring the body and life God has given you.
1. Breath Prayer Practice (3–5 minutes)
Use this breath prayer during your body scan or quiet time. It pairs your breath with a simple truth to center your heart and mind.
Inhale: “Here I am, Lord...”
Exhale: “I say yes to You.”
Repeat slowly for 3–5 minutes. Don’t rush it. If your mind wanders, gently come back to your breath and your phrase. Let the repetition help your body and spirit soften into stillness and surrender.
2. Morning Mirror Moment
Before you rush into your day, pause in front of the mirror. Place your hand over your heart and speak this aloud or silently:
“I am allowed to begin again. God meets me right here.”
This helps anchor your day in grace rather than pressure.
3. Affirmation Card or Reminder
Write today’s focus on a sticky note or notecard and place it:
On your bathroom mirror
At your meal prep station
On your dashboard
Whenever you see it, pause and take one deep breath. Let the words “just as I am” be a reminder that you don’t have to earn this space—you simply need to enter it.
4. Movement with Intention
During your gentle walk, use your steps to affirm your start. For example, sync your walking rhythm with this silent repetition:
Left foot: “I begin…”
Right foot: “just as I am.”
Use your walk as prayer in motion—no rush, no outcome needed.
5. Evening Reflection
At the end of the day, write down one way you said “yes” to starting—even if it felt small.
Examples:
I paused before a meal.
I did the breath prayer.
I noticed my tension without judgment.
These reflections reinforce that beginning doesn’t have to be big—it just has to be real.
Prayer
Lord, thank You for this new beginning. Help me quiet the noise and hear Your voice. Give me the courage to start, even if I don’t have it all figured out. Remind me that progress begins with obedience, not perfection. Strengthen my body, renew my mind, and anchor my heart in You. Today, I say yes. Amen.
